Why does my dying cat climb on top of me and my face?

actually, it's my grandpet~~ still, it's kinda weird to wake up and find Bevo who's 16 standing on my pillow and staring at me... his daddy Jeremy said he woke up more than once because Bev was climbing one paw at a time over his face - recently he sat on the top of my head while I was sleeping. I'm thinking he has dementia, or alzheimer or both and simply does not know where he is. BTW Bevo has been to two great Vets, one in Austin at the Cat Hospital and another in Dallas. 6 weeks ago he had a UI, but meds took care of that and all is within normal ranges, even though he sleeps all day and night (unusual for him) he eats very little, and equally limited out-put. I'm curious about what seems like a disoriented type of behavior.and questioning if others have experienced anything like this? It's not alarming, but it is mentionable. ooops, here comes Bevo now, gotta scoot-over!!
